Spread of Huntington's Disease

Huntington's disease (HD) is a hereditary disease that usually begins to affect people around 30 to 50 years old; however, it can occur much earlier or much later than that. If a parent has the Huntington gene, then his offspring have a 50% chance of inheriting the gene. If the child does not get affected by HD, however, the mutation will never take place in the child's life or sequencial generations. The chance of inheriting the gene is equal amongst both males and females.external image family.gif
